Office Application in Memory

Last Updated: Oct 01, 2015 02:09PM IST
When running a Configuration or Live Exam, you see an error message saying that there is an "Office Application in Memory" and that you must close it before starting the Exam:

Procedure

Should you see this, click "OK" then close any open programs/applications, (if necessary, reboot the PC) and return to the desktop. Open Task Manager and close any "Processes"* that the Exam System might identify as an Office application**. For example:

Image Name Description
WINWORD.EXE (OR WINWORD.EXE *32) Microsoft Word
EXCEL.EXE (OR EXCEL.EXE *32) Microsoft Excel
SfdcMsOl.exe (or SfdcMsOl.exe *32) Salesforce for Outlook
NMSACCESSU.EXE CDBurnerXP or Numedia CD-DVD

*You may need to "Show processes for all users".
**Some Processes like the Office "clicktorun" or the "Microsoft Office Software Protection Platform Service" do not cause this issue so can be left untouched.

If there are no processes that match this profile, try Repairing Office - http://support.prodigylearning.com/customer/portal/articles/1313689
